Peonies at Kenninji temple (Gion)

One of the most amazing things about Kyoto is that there are always flowers blooming, no matter the season. Cherry blossoms are gone but now it is time for peonies. Here at Kenninji the flowers add beautiful colors to the historic white-walled temple building, built in 1765.

This year’s cherry season came too quickly! It will be gone before we know it, and soon, the fog of pink will disappear into fresh shades of spring green.
