原稿の修正版を再投稿する際、編集長や査読者の指摘やコメントに対する返答レター（Response Letter）を用意することが必要になります。
Response Letter では、査読者らへの感謝の言葉から始まり、ポイントアウトされた点の一つ一つに対し、詳細な答えを用意したこと、再度提出する原稿は、これらのコメントを十分に考慮、反映したものであることなどを明示します。Revision にあたっては、査読者からのコメント、指摘の内容、その意図を正しく理解し、それらに丁寧に対処していきます。質問に対しては、はっきりとした簡潔な答えを用意し、訂正の要求には、それにどう対応したかを述べ、さらに訂正箇所をわかりやすく提示することが求められます。不十分、不適切な対応はもちろん、まわりくどい説明や、的の外れたレスポンスも再度の request for revision につながるので注意します。ここでは Response Letter の書き方の要領をまとめてみました。

まず、一般的にこのような始まりでレターを書き始めます。Thank you… に関しては、いろいろありますが、”…and providing us with detailed suggestions on how to improve our manuscript” などが適宜つけくわえられます。
例2: Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments and helpful suggestions.
例3: We wish to express our sincere appreciation for the Reviewer’s insightful comments, which have helped us greatly improve the manuscript.
例4: We thank you and the reviewers for the helpful comments on the original version of our manuscript.
そして、コメントに従って論文を見直し訂正、修正を加えた旨を述べ、コメントに対するレスポンスを添付してあることを伝えます。
We have addressed all the comments expressed by the Editor-in-Chief and reviewers, as indicated on the attached pages, and hope that the explanations and revisions are satisfactory.
例2: After manuscript revision following a thorough consideration of these comments, we hereby submit the revised version for your review. Below are our detailed point-by-point responses to the Reviewers’ comments.
例3: We have revised the manuscript according to the Reviewers’ comments. Please refer to our detailed point-by-point responses in the attached pages.
最後にお礼の言葉で締めくくります。
We hope that you will find [our changes satisfactory / our revised manuscript suitable for publication in XXX] and that our revised manuscript is now acceptable for publication in your journal.

Point-by-point responses では、修正箇所を含む全文を赤字などで添えることも可能ですが（例1）、訂正／修正を含む文が長い場合や、数が多い場合、リバイズ版の訂正箇所を赤字などで区別した上で、次のように、修正箇所のページナンバー、ラインナンバーをカッコで記すという方法をおすすめします。
例1: Thank you for your excellent comments and suggestions. I have implemented them in the revised manuscript (red font), as detailed below.
例2: Thank you for pointing that out. We have corrected the sentence accordingly. (page…, line…)
例3: In accordance with the Reviewer’s comment, we have changed ‘significant’ to ‘significantly’. (page…, line…)
例4: The paragraph has been revised accordingly. (page…, lines…)
